As the Earth renews itself and finally shows signs of spring—signs are also coming that we are nearing the end of the 2014-2015 Children’s Ministry school year. We have experienced great joy as we prepare for our building expansion, learned more about God’s plan for each of us, and worked to understand how our Christian faith affects our daily lives as students, parents, families and teachers.
In April and May Sunday school has tackled some of the big themes of living a modern Christian life. What is Heaven and why is it a gift? What are the fruits of the Spirit and who is the Holy Spirit anyway? How do we take those “red words of Jesus” from our Bibles and use them to show love and respect to others. These are BIG concepts and it’s always fun to see the kids’ understanding grow as they move through their grade levels. This cyclical approach to our Bible based curriculum means that families can talk about what happened in Sunday school and find that each of their children touched on a different aspect from the same theme. Our teachers have gone above and beyond in preparing their lessons this year—they are such a blessing to our program!
May 17 is our last day of Sunday school and of course our Annual Tea and Talent show! Kids can sign up to share their talents during the show and then parents and families are invited to share Tea and Treats as we close out another great Sunday school year. Please mark your calendars and plan to stay during the Sunday school hour on the 17 to see the show! A little birdie told me that maybe even some of the Sunday school teachers MIGHT be sharing some of their talents as well—you won’t want to miss it!
Our big summer event for Children’s Ministry will be Vacation Bible School—June 19—22. Registration forms will be available soon—or you will be able to fill it out on—line. Join us from 6-8:30pm to visit EVEREST—Where we Conquer Challenges with God’s Mighty Power. Games, snacks, and Bible missions, it’s a great experience for kids ages 3- incoming 6th grade. We invite our out—going 6th graders to join us as crew assistants.
