THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS
In a world desperately needing hope and peace, join with us this Advent Season as we look at The Gifts of Christmas. Each week we will walk through the scriptures that speak of gifts:
November 29 The Gift of Expediency Jeremiah 29:11-13
December 6 The Gift of Grace Ephesians 2:8-9
December 13 The Gift of Reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:7-21
December 20 The Gift of Adoption John 1:12-13
December 24 The Gift of Jesus Luke 2:1-7 Christmas Eve
December 27 The Gift of Love
As we walk in a season of darkness, come find the light of Jesus. CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES and BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS
Once again we align with Christians throughout the world to celebrate the
birth of Christ. Join us on Christmas Eve at one of our three services: 5:00, 7:00 or 11:00 pm. Between the 5:00 and 7:00 pm services, we want to invite you to have a piece of cake as we celebrate the birth. This would be a marvelous time to place a gift of books under the Christmas tree. You will hear more about this from our Director of Family ministries, Beth Botsford.
We are joining with other Iowa United Methodist Churches for the Bishop’s Initiative to give 1,000,000 books to kids in need across the state. This is an ambitious project. What better way to kick it off than to give a gift of books to Jesus! This would be a wonderful family mission project. Compassion is taught.
If you would like to give a gift of cash, we will work with EDC Educational Services. This company is offering a 60% match on new books. For example, a $1000 church special offering turns into $1600 in brand new books! Come celebrate with us! Donations are accepted through the Donate page, the offering plate or by mail through the church office. Please make sure to label these special donations, “1,000,000 Books”
On November 25 we held a Service of Death and Resurrection for Guy Rosenberg. Guy was a long-time member of the church and was much beloved. Please remember Marty and the extended family in your prayers.
CANES NEEDED: Not the Candy
Jesse Hernandez is looking for 30 canes for a project he is working on currently. If you have a cane that you no longer need, please bring it to church. You will not be getting the cane back. You can leave it in Pastor Alecia’s office. Jesse and his wife, Elaine, attend the 8:00 am service and are long-term members.
