Youth Ministry Wrap Party
Instead of a traditional Christmas party, we have found a way for our students to give back to our church and community. We will have free Christmas present wrapping on Sunday, December 20 from 5:00—8:00 pm for all church members interested! We’ll offer cookies, hot cider and cocoa. Come and spend some time in fellowship with our students as they serve you in a very practical way.

The youth spent the month of November on a three week study on the importance of God’s word. At the end of the study, they were given a 21 Day Bible Challenge, where they spend a few minutes everyday in the book of John in order to develop a steady habit of reading their bibles daily. This wouldn’t have been possible without all of your support in providing bibles to our students. We are already seeing God at work in their lives:

“Thanks for introducing the Bible challenge at EPIC. My seventh grader and I are really enjoying doing this together. We are using the same Bible so we can both mark passages and verses that we want to talk about or discuss with each other. We’ve had some great conversations- thanks for encouraging our kids to get into their Bibles!” ~ EPIC Parent

Children’s Ministry Christmas Program
Our Children’s Ministry Christmas Program will take place at 9:00 am on Sunday, December 20. We ask that each child participating be present at Sunday school November 29- December 13 to learn the songs. There will be a mandatory rehearsal on Saturday, December 19 at 10am. We are really looking forward to it this year, and are even inviting all of our Creation Kids families! Be sure to pick up a super awesome Advent TREE at church on Sunday morning if you haven’t gotten yours yet

Birthday Party for Jesus
Our Christmas Eve services this year are at 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 11:00 pm. At 6:00 pm we are holding a come and go birthday party for Jesus. Stop by the Christmas tree in the church lobby for birthday cake! While there, we are asking each family to bring a brand new book or two, as a Christmas present for Jesus. This year, the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church has a goal of collecting one million books in a new initiative called “Change a Child’s Story”. In 2012, roughly 1 in 4 IOWA 4th graders scored below proficient level on the state reading test. Additional research indicates that a quarter of the kids who are behind in reading by the 4th grade will eventually drop out of school. Together, we can change their story! Help us collect books and provide them to children who need it most!
