Welcome Team

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you have a heart for people to find a church home at North Liberty First United Methodist Church? If you answered yes to both of these questions then we are looking for you to help us serve on the welcome team. We are looking for people to assist welcoming guests to our church on Sunday mornings. No hard work attached, just need smiling faces and a welcoming attitude. We are looking for several people at each service to wear their name tags along with a button that says “Ask Me” in case guests need information on the location of the nursery, bathrooms, etc. and to answer any questions they may have about the church. If you are interested in serving in this exciting ministry then I invite you to join me in an informational meeting and training on Wednesday September 9 at 7pm in the library. Come find out exactly what we are doing and why this ministry is so important in the life of the church. The goal of this team is to make people feel welcome and at home at our church. We want people to have the information they need in order to feel comfortable and to help them find a wonderful life giving church home. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by calling the office or e-mail me at pastorjoshrath@gmail.com.

Welcome to Our Church

I am excited to announce that we are beginning a new welcome team to help make guests feel at home here at NLFUMC. I am excited because this means that when new people walk through the doors of the church, we can direct them to smiling faces that are willing to help them feel at home as well as ask any questions they may have. This provides a personal experience and helps make people feel at home.

I know many of you do a great job of greeting guests when they walk through our doors and I encourage each of you to continue to do so, the team will provide even more assistance as well as give people the opportunity to ask questions.

We have a great team who is ready to get started, if you would like to help during the service you normally attend, please contact one of the people listed below from each service. We will be ordering special badges to wear so people know who they can come up to and ask questions.

This is vital to help make people feel comfortable, pointing them to where the restrooms are to knowing all the ministries of the church.

First Service: Jolyn Morgan and Elaine Hernandez

Second Service: Dani Gryp and Terry and Robbie Donahue

Third Service: Karen McRoberts and Mario

In Christ,

IMG_0566Easter Morning dawned sunny and mild.  The morning began with a Sunrise Service at the outdoor sanctuary followed by a potluck breakfast.  The following services were held indoors.  The need for the expansion was readily apparent.  The parking lot was spilling over and extra chairs and benches were needed for seating.  Attendance at the four services was 467.  The high attendance approaches numbers traditionally seen at Christmas.

The service at 9:45 am was a joyful celebration of Christ’s victory over death.  This service provided an opportunity to present a third grade student with a Bible.  Mandy Moellering talked with a very large group of children about the symbols of the resurrection.  Alecia Williams discussed Psalm 118 and the resurrection.  The service concluded with Communion where ALL were welcome.

Celebration Sunday

Join us on Sunday, March 29 at the Coralville Holiday Inn, 1220 1st Ave., for one service at 9:45 am.  We are celebrating as one body what God is doing in our mist.  We will celebrate in song, liturgy and the message. A festive breakfast brunch will be catered after the service.

Throughout March, worship will focus on 40 Days with Jesus. We will look at the familiar stories of Lent through the eyes of the different participants: John the Baptist, Simon Peter, the Widow, Nicodemus, and other disciples. This haunting story has themes of betrayal, humility, pride, cowardice, power and so much more. As we explore the characters, we begin to see pieces of ourselves in these ancient words. Come join us on the journey of 40 Days with Jesus.
