Is your New Year’s “resolution” to develop a closer relationship with God?
Join us as we fellowship with other Christian women on this journey.
We will meet weekly on Tuesday nights starting
January 12 at 7:30 pm to 8:30-9ish.
The book we will use is: Having A Mary Hearth in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver.
“The life of a woman today isn’t really all that different from that of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long to sit at the Lord’s feet…but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve him…yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy.
Then comes Jesus, right into the midst of your busy Mary/Martha life-and he extends the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters of Bethany. Tenderly he invites you to choose “the better part”-a joyful life of “living-room” intimacy with him that flows naturally into “kitchen service” for him.
How can you make that choice? With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story and its creative, practical strategies, Joanna shows how all of us-Mary’s and Martha’s alike-can draw closer to our Lord, deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.”
Let me know if you would like me to order a book for you ($8.50) by email on or before Tuesday, January 5 at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Men, this spring we started a new Bible study that meets on Wednesday mornings at Hy-Vee in Coralville at 6:30 am and we have had a wonderful time getting to know one another better as well as learning from each other as we have studied the Bible. On September 2 we began a new Bible study on the book of Matthew. Matthew is the first Gospel in the New Testament and is rich in details about the life of Christ.
I encourage you to try our men’s group out if you haven’t yet; it truly is life giving to all who have joined. I am excited to begin this study of Matthew and I hope that we all can learn together. If you are hesitant, join us for 4 weeks and see if your spiritual life benefits from the time we spend together. If you can’t make it each week that’s okay, just join us when you can. We look forward to seeing you as enjoy some food, fellowship, and Bible study each Wednesday morning.
Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you have a heart for people to find a church home at North Liberty First United Methodist Church? If you answered yes to both of these questions then we are looking for you to help us serve on the welcome team. We are looking for people to assist welcoming guests to our church on Sunday mornings. No hard work attached, just need smiling faces and a welcoming attitude. We are looking for several people at each service to wear their name tags along with a button that says “Ask Me ” in case guests need information on the location of the nursery, bathrooms, etc. and to answer any questions they may have about the church.
The goal of this team is to make people feel welcome and at home at our church. We want people to have the information they need in order to feel comfortable and to help them find a wonderful life-giving church home. To Volunteer or if you have any questions please feel free to contact me by calling the office or e-mail me at email@example.com.
