What a Difference

THANK YOU

IMG_5841A big thank you to all who spent the morning and some of their afternoon volunteering with Make A Difference Day (M.A.D.). The day was a tremendous success. Eighty volunteers from North Liberty Methodist Church, Grace Community Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hope Evangelical Church and St. Thomas More worked side by side at 18 different sites. Projects included raking wet leaves, cleaning gutters, digging flowers, cutting back trees, IMG_5833re-building a deck, rearranging furniture, covering windows and many more. God has blessed this ministry with projects we could handle and an abundance volunteers as we continue provide this outreach.

Thank You to everyone who made this Make A Difference Day a success from donating cookies for the day or working behind the scenes to make sure it was a success.

Make a Difference Day Fall 2015

It’s time for our fall Make a Difference day – a community work day to help those in our town who have trouble working on their own homes. This year’s date is Saturday, October 24.

Make a Difference
Make a Difference

Make a Difference involves people from a number of churches. Anyone in the community needing work done – things like raking leaves, winterizing, building steps, painting, you name it – we do it! Teams consist of 4 to 10 people, potentially from different churches and work for about 3 hours at someone’s home. Most materials are provided (except gloves, rakes, and some tools). Requirements: sign up and show up. (Forms available in church office and coming soon online)

Let’s get together and make a difference in North Liberty!

What do you love about our community? What do you think would make North Liberty a better place to live?  How could we do that together?

A number of people have spent the last year following God’s call to find ways to better serve our community. Now it is time to gather all interested parties together – individuals, churches, community groups, and organizations – to share our ideas and explore how we can take those ideas from a vision to a reality.  Join us at one of two city-wide gatherings on

  • May 29, 6pm to 9pm at the North Liberty Community Center
  • May 31, 9am to noon at the North Liberty Community Center

Our evening gathering will include a light supper with sandwiches, veggies, and drinks. Our morning gathering will include coffee and snacks.  If you have questions, please contact Judy McRoberts at judy.mcroberts@gmail.com.

For more information on what we have been doing and hope to do, check us out at www.northlibertybuildingcommunity.wordpress.com.
