Clear Creek Amana is putting on a fundraiser Pasta Dinner at the high school during the boys’ basketball gave on December 11 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm for Jeff Astor. The evening will include a silent auction and dessert auction. Proceeds will go toward medical costs and travel expenses associated with potential Jeff’s last treatment option.
Jeff and his wife Jane attend church here. Jeff was diagnosed with MDS (Myeloid Dysplastic Syndrome), refractory anemia with excess blasts, a type of Leukemia in the bone marrow in the spring of 2013. Jeff was able to find a bone marrow donor and in May of 2014 had transplant. In November of 2014 his cancer returned. His diagnosis was grim with 55% of him bone marrow cells showing leukemia. Jeff has spent numerous month long visits in the hospital with flu complications, to Graft versus Host disease and most recently the adenoid virus. Jeff is currently pursuing a treatment option at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas, after a referral by the U of I.
