Book Group– Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30- The Faith Dare- 30 Days to Live Your Life to the Fullest by Debbie Alsdorf. The Faith Dare is a 30 day challenge for women who want to develop a new habit of focusing on God’s ways and daily awareness of his presence. It is for women who are tired of ho-hum living and want to break the pattern of self- reliance and people pleasing by putting their trust in God along and living to please him. This book includes daily readings, affirmations and challenges to help you to live in the power of God’s word. This study, led by Dani Gryp, will begin Tuesday, Sept. 15 and will meet for 5 weeks. The book cost is $13.
Study Group– Wednesdays from 7:30-9- Stepping Up by Beth Moore. Stepping Up takes a look at the pilgrimage theme found in Psalms 120 and 134 and explores the major feasts of Israel. For the ancient Israelites, pilgrimage was a three-times-per-year journey to the temple in Jerusalem; for New Testament believers all of life becomes a journey together toward the new Jerusalem. This study gets deeper into The Word with daily readings and reflection. Laura Bibby, will lead this 7 week group beginning Wednesday, September 16. The book cost is $18.
All women are invited to join the Ecumenical Women’s Bible Study as we begin our Fall semester on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. The study meets Wednesdays from 9:15-11:00 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1300 Melrose Avenue in Iowa City. The church is handicapped accessible with plenty of parking.
We will be studying 1 & 2 Peter and Jude, using a LifeGuide Study by Carolyn Nystrom, published by InterVarsity Press. At our first meeting, an introduction to the study will be provided by Pastor Matthew Proctor of Crossroads Church in Marion.
New members are always welcome at any time. We have a variety of ages who come and from a variety of denominations. We will be able to enjoy each others perspectives. We hope to see you on Wednesday mornings. If you. have questions, contact Janet Rudolph (354-4882) or Peggy Tillman (389-9133).
Do you want to know God and really believe Him? Do you want to find satisfaction in God, experience His peace, and enjoy His presence? Do you want to make the freedom Christ promised a reality in your daily life?
In her book, Beth Moore embarks on a study of selected passages from the book of Isaiah, drawing several parallels between the captive Israelites and today’s Christians, in order to show how to make freedom in Christ a daily reality. Moore teaches readers to remove obstacles that hinder freedom by identifying spiritual strongholds in their lives and overcoming them through the truth of God’s Word—truth that will set us free.
Breaking Free is a 10 week bible study for women. The group will meet on Wednesday nights from 7:30-9, starting on April 22. To join this group contact Dani Gryp at firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-631-2373. The book is $20.
